At DC Locating, we specialize in accurate underground utility locating and marking for both 811 services and private utility systems. Our trained technicians use advanced locating equipment to identify and mark buried gas, water, electric, sewer, and communication lines before excavation begins.
In addition to public utility marking through 811, we also locate private underground utilities that are not covered by the system, helping ensure a complete and accurate understanding of what lies below.

We offer reliable and accurate utility locating services for both public and private systems, using advanced technology to ensure safety, precision, and efficiency on every project.
Public Utility Locating
We provide accurate marking of public underground utilities through 811 services, including gas, electric, water, sewer, and communication lines (we can correct mismarks of public utility markings as well).
Facility Mapping
We provide facility mapping for both private and public utilities, delivering every locate with a detailed PDF and live GIS data sent directly to the contractor. We also offer GPS pinpointing to accurately update your GIS and help identify and map previously unknown underground facilities.
Ground Penetrating Radar
We offer ground penetrating radar (GPR), a non-invasive technology that uses radar pulses to scan below the surface and detect underground objects, utilities, and structures without digging. It helps identify things like pipes, voids, concrete, and other buried features to improve accuracy and safety before excavation.

TRANSPARENT PRICING
Standard Private Utility Locating
Standard Utility Locating- $150/Hour
Minimum Charge- $250
Drive Time- $50/hour (Charges start after 30-minutes of drivetime)
Emergency/Same Day Service- $225/Hour
Weekends - $175/Hour
GPR
GPR - $100/Minimum
(If GPR is used to perform the locate there is a $100 minimum charge for use and then included into the normal rate of $150 an hour for standard locating)
Discounted Day Rates
Half Day Rate - $600
(Half day rate is a minimum flat rate of $600 for no surprise billing method, this includes no charge of drive time, no charge of GPR minimum, you can get up to 4 hours worth of work)
Scenario- Contractor requests DC Locating to perform a locate at standard locating rates, we take 4 hours to complete and GPR was needed, the invoice would show
4 hours x $150= $600 GPR Minimum = $100 Drive Time (2hours) x $50= $100 Total= $800 (Additional cost of $200 vs the Half Day Rate)
Full Day Rate - $1100
(Full day rate is a minimum flat rate of $1100 for no surprise billing method, this includes no charge of drive time, no charge of GPR minimum, you can get up to 8 hours worth of work)
Scenario- Contractor requests DC Locating to perform a locate at standard locating rates, we take 8 hours to complete and GPR was needed, the invoice would show
8 hours x $150= $1200 GPR Minimum = $100 Drive Time (2hours) x $50= $100 Total= $1400 (Additional cost of $300 vs the Full Day Rate)
